Retailer Profiles - Retail in the Family

Chris and Rebecca Antonieff, FoodWorks Oxley, QLD

Chris and Rebecca Antonieff have been in the retail industry for approximately 25 years and were previously franchisees within the Service Station industry.

Chris and Rebecca started their journey with FoodWorks when their store, originally branded Australian United Retailers (AUR), transitioned to a FoodWorks store when the two businesses merged. According to Chris, FoodWorks' brand strength Australia-wide, along with the opportunity to have a voice within the wider business and contribute to the brand were extremely appealing aspects in joining the group.

"You have a voice within the business and FoodWorks genuinely has an interest in what you do. The support is fantastic; when I first joined, the person who helped me through it is still with FoodWorks business."

Chris has seen FoodWorks change from a time where there was essentially no technology or corporate based structure to a situation where there is fantastic technology and a great support structure. Throughout the entire period, FoodWorks have always been willing and ready to listen and have led the industry in the data available to new operators.

"The data available from FoodWorks allows you to make decisions based on the raw facts and expected costs, not just giving you an idea of what to stock, but stocking it because it sells. FoodWorks is structured in a way that you can contact the person you need to. If I need to speak to HR, I can just call them!"
